Arts and Culture: Centre Region Grooms Tomorrow’s Arts Maestros

The “Arts in School” festival ended in Yaounde on April 13, 2022 with the best in each category duly rewarded.

 The handover of prizes on April 13, 2022 in the National Museum, Yaounde, marked the grand finale of the “Arts in School” or Fair Arts festival organized by the “Concertation des Encadreurs du Réseau des Formateurs en Arts et Culture du Centre,” CERPESAC - the network of school arts and culture trainers in the Centre Region. Under the patronage of the Centre Regional Delegation for Secondary Education. “The results were wonderful! We received more requests this year. The Ministry of Arts and Culture offered students several opportunities to express themselves artistically and culturally,” explained Avouzoa Justine Christine, CERPESAC Chair. “The output this year was better and the competition tougher. Also, performances are getting better and creativity more diversified and competitive,” Mrs. Avouzoa added.
Meanwhile, CERFESAC plans to create art galleries and art and culture clubs in colleges. “We appeal to the Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reforms to integrate arts teachers to enhance their performance,” she pleaded. She expressed gratitude to the brewery that sponsored Fair Arts; as well as the National UNESCO Commission. In the school category, Collège Sigmund Freude took the prize for theatre; Collège catholique Jean Tabi for drawing; CES de Ngoya II for music; Lycée de Ngoumou for literary arts; and Collège Catholique Sainte Famille for choreography. Collège Saint Michel Archange won the prize for oratory; Lycée bilingue de Nkozoa for handicraft; Collège Saint Augustin for exhibition; Quality International School for dressing; Lycée de Nkolnda for cinematography; Institut Baudelaire Bilingue for participation, and Collège de la Retraite for artistic resilience.
In the individual category, the comedy prizes went to Collège Saint Michel’s troupe for the sketch, “Le ndjapap de la CAN” and Ndzie Nicolas’ “Le rôle de 300 pages.” The drawing prize went to Ayuketang Junior of Quality International School. While
