Refugees Situation : Better Coordination Of Responses Explored

Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute on April 26, 2022 had discussions with the visiting United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi.

Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute and the visiting United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi on April 26, 2022 discussed how to better coordinate the response to refugee situation in Cameroon, as well as that of Internally Displaced Persons in the Far North, North West and South West Regions.
Talking to the press after the discussions, the UNHRC High Commissioner said that Cameroon was a very good host of refugees and indicated that there were almost 500,000 refugees from the Central African Republic, Nigeria and other countries in Cameroon.  “I am here to thank Cameroon and to help mobilise more resources to support Cameroon’s efforts of hospitality to refugees.” Considering the various crises in the world and the high need for UNHCR attention, Filippo Grandi on behalf of the UNHCR  and the United Nations in general declared that, “I am here to tell Cameroon and Africa that in spite of big crises occurring in other parts of the world that have absorbed a lot of attention and resources, Cameroon is not forgotten, it is not neglected. Africa is not also neglected.”
