North West : Bamenda Celebrates Nation Builders

Fair weather, stepped up security, military parade and medals for meritorious citizens summed up May 20, 2022 commemorative event in metropolitan Bamenda.

Col. Tetcha Felix commanded the troops and the clock stroke 10.35 a.m when North West Governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrigue arrived the event grounds at the Bamenda Commercial Avenue. The tone was set for the commemoration of 50 years of the Unitary State with medals for some 75 citizens in recognition for distinctive services to the nation. Beneficiaries took home distinctions with medals in the categories of the Cameroon Order of Valour, Cameroon Order of Merit, Merit of the Public Force, Agricultural and Sport Order of Merit etc.
 Among the beneficiaries were Cletus Anye Matoyah, General Manager of MIDENO, Ghejung Awunti, Commissioner for Development at the Regional Executive Council, Anutemeh Fru Johnson, economic operator, Ndi Tsembom Elvis, and Secretary General, FECAFOOT, North West. 
The military band of the 5th Joint Military Region animated when defence and security forces showcased their march past skills. In quick succession, detachments and sections of the Gendarmerie, Infantry, Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR), Air force, Fire Brigade, Penitentiary, Ex- Servicemen, and Customs marched past.
