Mayo Banyo : CERAC Empowers Rural Women, Vulnerable Persons

The humanitarian caravan of the First Lady on June 18, 2022 donated diverse food items and agricultural tools to the segment of the population of the Adamawa Region.

Bankim Subdivision in the Mayo Banyo Division of the Adamawa Region is in a festive mood. The celebration which began on Saturday June 18, 2022, when the population received a delegation of the First Lady’s humanitarian association, the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC), will last forever given the context of the visit. 
The humanitarian caravan of CERAC was at Bankim with agriculrural tools meant to empower the rural woman of the Mayo Banyo Division as well as vulnerable persons of Bankim. The personal representative of the First Lady of Cameroon at the event, Mrs Koulsoumi Aladji Boukar, who is also CERAC's delegate for the Adamawa Region, said “we have finally come to Bankim with the spirit of mutual aid and solidarity.”
Mrs Koulsoumi Aladji Boukar highlighted the humanitarian mission of CERAC. She said the association, founded by Cameroon's First Lady, Mrs Chantal Biya, has taken up the mission of helping vulnerable groups in the Cameroonian society, empower women and promote the education of young girls among other things. To achieve these goals, the CERAC caravan has been crisscrossing the country for 27 years and according to Koulsoumi Alhadji Boukar, the caravan is not going to stop anytime soon. “As long as people of goodwill are willing to accompany the First Lady in her crusade against suffering, we will act", she underlined. 
While in Bankim, the delegation handed over among other things, agro-pastoral tools, and foodstuffs to some 30 rural women associations divided into three Subdivisions. CERAC also donated office equipment, sewing machines, electrical generators etc., to a youth association of Banyo. A number of vulnerable persons in the town of Bankim also received special gifts from the delegation of CERAC. While handing over the items, Koulsoumi Aladji Boukar reminded the population of the First Lady’s constant attention to the plight of women, children and vulnerable persons and urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the donations.
