Group C : Nigeria, South Africa Up For The Challenge

The two teams are favourites in the group even though debutants, Botswana and Burundi may spring surprises during the competition.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria will be at the 12th edition of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The nine times title winners have been on every edition of the AWCON. Nigeria edged giants like Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire during the qualifiers thanks to Coach Randy Waldrum’s outstanding vision. Their road to Morocco was remarkable. Many believe Coach Waldrum’s girls will be out to maintain their superiority on the continent. With team captain Onome Ebi, Rasheedat Ajibade and Francisca Ordega much is expected from the Super Falcons. Asisat Oshoala, Africa’s player of the year will add so much flair in the team as she is following in the footsteps of the Nigerian legend, Perpetua Nkwocha. Having achieved so much in the previous 11 editions expectations are high for another Nigeria title this time.
The Banyana Banyana of South Africa like the Super Falcons of Nigeria have never missed any edition of the AWCON. In all their participations the Banyana Banyana have won six medals- four silver and two bronze. The team lead by Coach Desiré Elis the 2018 and 2019 CAF women’s coach of the year will be seeking to win their first AWCON title in Morocco. The team has the TotalEnergies Champions League best goalkeeper, Andile Dlamini at the goal post joined by the TotalEnergies AWCON top scorer...
