Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers : Cameroon Qualifies For Second Round

Despite losing all three matches in the last phase of the first round, the Lions moved to the next stage due to a head-to-head better point difference over Rwanda.
The Basketball Lions of Cameroon have made it through to the second round of the African qualifiers of 2023 World Cup. They narrowly qualified despite losing all three matches in window three of the qualifiers which was held between July 1-3, 2022 in Kigali, Rwanda. At the end of the campaign, they emerged with seven points just like Rwanda. But what takes Cameroon ahead of Rwanda to occupy the third place in Group B is the fact they have a head-to-head better point difference. Going by the rules, when both teams have equal points, the confrontations between the two teams come to play. In the first phase, Cameroon beat Rwanda with a margin of 14 points and in the second phase, Rwanda beat Cameroon with a seven-point difference. The superiority gives Cameroon a place in the second round.
Looking at the outcome of the matches played in Kigali, it was a relatively bad campaign for Cameroon. First, they were beaten by Tunisia 54-65 on July 1, 2022. On July 2, 2022, the Lions were overpowered by Rwanda 62-59. On Sunday, July 3, 2022, South Sudan beat Cameroon 56-67.
