Cameroon-Helen Keller International : Host Country Agreement Signed

This was during at event at the Ministry of External Relations on July 7, 2022.

The government of the Republic of Cameroon and Helen Keller International (HKI) on July 7, 2022 signed an establishment agreement. External Relations Minister, Mbella Mbella signed on behalf of the government and the Country Director of HKI, Dr. Ismael Teta, did same for his organisation. The agreement provides a legal framework for the organisation which has been operating in Cameroon for the past 30 years in the health sector. The signing of the accord took place in the presence of government officials and members of the diplomatic corps. 
Minister Mbella Mbella in his speech said the organisation has been carrying out laudable activities geared at improving on a nation-wide health coverage, anchoring mainly in the Far North and East Regions. The Minister added that the contribution of partners of choice is not to be neglected, reason the government is affording an optimal framework for the effective deployment of all entities working relentlessly for the wellbeing of the population. “The HKI of strategic activities fall within the framework of preventing the causes and consequences of blindness and malnutrition. In furtherance thereof, the said strategic activities henceforth encompassed the integrated fight against Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) with endeavours aimed at establishing a framework for partnership with the Ministry of Public Health”, he stated. 
On his part, the Country Director of HKI, Dr. Ismael Teta expressed gratitude to the Cameroonian government for the host country agreement signed, noting that it will facilitate their interventions in the country. “For the past 30 years since we joined the country, we have been working in mainly three particular key areas, that is the fight against neglected tropical diseases,...
