Cameroon-UNESCO : Prospects For Greater Cooperation

Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute on July 20, 2022 granted an audience to the Regional Director for Central Africa of the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), Paul Coustere, and both personalities explored the roadmap of the new official which borders on expanding cooperation in education, information and communication. The Regional Director General who presented his lettres of introduction at the Ministry of External Relations on May 11, 2022, said after his two months stay in Cameroon, it was appropriate to meet the Prime Minister for a review of cooperation ties.
Talking to the press after the audience, he noted that the Prime Minister stressed on a few topics of further cooperation, which the Regional Director added were already highlighted during the visit of the Director General of UNESCO in February this year. “In education, he really stressed on the importance of the cooperation with UNESCO in view of addressing some of the challenges that education faced during the Covid-19 pandemic. And the goal is to make education more resilient through tools of distance learning and changing the curricular. We are working closely with the government and there will be a Head of State Summit in September concerning education where Cameroon is coming with a strong strategy,” he stated.
