South West Region : US Ambassador Visits Buea

From 20 through 21 July, 2022, the new US Ambassador to Cameroon was on a maiden trip to Buea for field acquaintance since assuming office last early March.

Buea, capital of the South West Region has played host to His Excellency Christopher J. Lamara, the new Ambassador of the United States of America to Cameroon. The two-day maiden visit (20 to 21 July, 2022) enabled the Ambassador to meet social, political, religious, cultural and administrative personalities of the Region. 
Christopher Lamara has an inherent duty to comb all other regions of Cameroon to acquaint with the realities of the land and also usefully familiarize with his over 10.000 US fellow citizens residing in the country.     
The stay in Buea offered an opportunity to Ambassador Lamara to open more horizons to promote relations between the US and Cameroon. The Ambassador’s trip to Buea took a special dimension in opinion and in act owing to the current security risks in Anglophone Cameroon. After a courtesy call on the Governor of the Region, Bernard Okalia Bilai, the Ambassador visited the Buea Council, the Mutengene Baptist Hospital in the periphery of Buea, and the University of Buea.
