Cameroon-United Nations : Strategic Areas Of Cooperation Discussed

External Relations Minister, Mbella Mbella on August 17, 2022 received in audience the Resident Coordinator of the UN System in Cameroon, Matthias Naab.

The Minister of External Relations, Mbella Mbella and the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Cameroon, Matthias Naab have discussed ways of intensifying cooperation ties between the two parties. This was during an audience the Minister granted the UN official on August 17, 2022. 
Speaking to the press after the audience, Matthias Naab said it was an opportunity for him to give an update to the Minister on what the United Nations has been doing for the last two years that he has been in Cameroon. “It was also an opportunity to commend the government through the Minister for the active participation of Cameroon at the just-ended high-level political forum in New York where Cameroon presented for the second time its voluntary natural review. And at the same time to commend the government for all the efforts that it has been making in strengthening the partnership with the United Nations here in Cameroon,” he stated. The Resident Coordinator added that together with the Minister, they identified a number of areas for greater cooperation. “One area is how can we continue to strengthen our role in mobilising more strategic partnership in support of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West Regions. We all agreed that it is really important for the entire UN system to be fully mobilised behind the UNDP to strengthen the partnership with government, but also to show other bilateral and multilateral partners that this is the right thing to do in support of government efforts,” Matthias Naab revealed.
