Ahead Of New School Year In Buea: Colleges Rounding Up With Preparations

Staff meeting, repair of benches and broken floors, drawing time timetable are among the finishing touches being put in place.

Managers of secondary schools in Buea are on the last bend with preparation ahead of the new school year 2022/2023 to begin on September 5, 2022. On Tuesday August 23, 2022, they said everything is in place to get better results than the just ended school year. At Our Lady of Mount Carmel College Muea, a mower was already cutting the lawn despite the heavy downpour. Sister Margaret Mary Ajebe-Sone, Principal of the college, said that they are looking at staffing, timetable and workload bearing in mind that pedagogy is key in learning. The dormitories were being prepared to welcome students. At press time, the school which is being revamp had 56 students on the register. Though purely boarding and a girls’ college, Our Lady of Mount Carmel College Muea has opened its doors for day students including boys.
Lyonga Cecilia Limunga, Principal of Bilingual Grammar School (BGS) Molyko Buea pointed to the cleaning of classrooms and yard as part of their preparations. The timetable was being finalized and will be ready by the end of this week. Bilingual Grammar School’s administrative meeting is on Friday August 26, 2022 and staff meeting one week afterwards. The principal plans to heartily congratulate her teachers for the results they made. BGS had 788 candidates for GCE Ordinary level with 598 passed scoring 75.89%.
