Queen Elizabeth II Funeral : President Biya’s Representative Joins Mourners

The funeral service of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland took place in London on September 19, 2022.

Cameroon’s Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute represented President Paul Biya at the State funeral in honour Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in London, Monday, September 19, 2022. The Prime Minister was accompanied in Cameroon’s official delegation by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu.
The official part of the State funeral in honour of Queen Elizabeth II who died on September 8, 2022 at the age of 96 after having ruled the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for 70 years took place at Westminster Abbey in London. Here President Paul Biya’s representative joined other leaders to pay tribute and honour to the departed Queen in a funeral service. According to the funeral programme, Members of Foreign Royal Families, Heads of State and Overseas Government Representatives were received at the Great West Door by the Dean and Chapter of Westminster and conducted to their seats in the Lantern. Prime Minister Dion Ngute and other world leaders watched The Very Reverend Dr David Hoyle Mbe, Dean of Westminster conduct the service. He also lived the procession of the Queen’s coffin as it moved in, followed all the solemn funeral procedure and rituals till the end of the service and the conveyance of the coffin out.
Reports say that on the eve of the funeral service on September 18, 2022, Cameroon’s delegation was among the foreign leaders who were received by the new Monarch of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, King Charles III.
