Fight Against Boko Haram: Joint Task Force Neutralises Terrorists, Seize Ammunitions

«The Minister of Communication hereby informs the national and international community that following the repeated incursions of Boko Haram terrorists in our territory, Cameroon Defence and Security Forces led a major offensive in the Nigerian territory on January 27 and 28, 2017.
These operations, which were conducted under the banner of the Multinational Joint Task Force, supported by the Alpha and Emergence 4 Operations and in perfect synergy with the Army of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, allowed the coalition forces to take control of the Zumbula village and its surroundings, some nine kilometres away from the Cameroon border.
The balance sheet of the operations is as follows: 13 terrorists were completely neutralized, and the following warfare material were seized: 03 assault rifles including one AK 47 and two FAL; an automatic gun; replacement barrels; four charger boxes and hundreds of ammunition of various calibres; two explosive belts for suicide-bombers; three explosive charges; eleven traffic weapons; a locally made gun; combat attires; six motorcycles and six bicycles; various objects used in the manufacturing of explosive devices such as batteries; various propaganda material of the terrorist sect including 10 Boko Haram flags.
No loss in human lives was incurred by the Cameroonian side.
The Head of State commends the unfailing and multifaceted support of the entire Nation to the Defence and Security Forces.
He calls on all to remain vigilant until the final eradication of the Boko Haram peril, which has been significantly weakened and whose days are now numbered.
The President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul BIYA, Commander-in-Chief of the Army, once again lauds the commitment, professionalism, courage and the high sense of honour and loyalty of our Defence and Security Forces.
The Head of State reiterates Cameroon's gratitude and its determination to lead this fight until the final victory, to all the front line countries directly involved in the fight against Boko Haram and to all friendly countries of the international community supporting us. »
