FIBA Volleyball Women’s World Championship: Third Consecutive Defeat For Lionesses

Cameroon’s chances of reaching the second round are slim after they lost to Kenya 0-3 sets in Arnhem on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

All does not seem to be going on well for the volleyball Lionesses of Cameroon at the ongoing FIBA Volleyball Women’s World Championship in the Netherlands and Poland. The Lionesses were beaten by Kenya 3-0 sets (25-20, 27-25, 25-19) in their third group A game at the Gelredome Gymnasium in Arnhem on Tuesday September 27, 2022. The defeat came as a revenge for the Kenyans who were beaten by the Lionesses 3-1 in the final of the Africa Nations Championships in Rwanda in September 2021. Last Tuesday’s defeat was the third consecutive defeat for the Lionesses since the start of the competition. During their first outing, Cameroon lost to the Netherlands 0-3 sets and equally lost to Italy in their second game with the same scores. Out of five matches in the group stage, Cameroon has not had a single win in three outings which implies that the chances for the Lionesses to qualify for the second round are slim. With two more matches left, the Lionesses will need to work hard to win some points to enable them go forward.
