Organising Elections : Stakeholders Assess Process

Members of Elections Cameroon met with representatives of political parties on October 3, 2022.

A decade after the creation of Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) and after having organised two major electoral cycles (2011-2013 and 2018-2020), the elections management body is meeting with various stakeholders to assess path covered and outline perspectives. To this effect, members of the Electoral Board led by the Chairperson, Enow Abrams Egbe, on October 3, 2022 met with representatives of political parties in Cameroon and discussed under the theme, “The Electoral Process in Cameroon from 2011 to 2021, 10 years with ELECAM: Lessons learned, stakes and perspectives.”  The meeting falls in line with ELECAM’s experience sharing and stakeholders engagement in the electoral process.
Speaking at the encounter, Enow Abrams Egbe said the 2023-2025 electoral cycle is already at the horizon and the meeting with political parties aims to assess issues and challenges in the electoral process and jointly map out solutions to the common problems identified. “The objective at the end of this encounter is to succeed in mitigating all forms of apprehensions and to converge our efforts towards the general interest: that of a more credible and most importantly, inclusive electoral process,” he noted.
