Rugby Africa Women’s Cup Qualifiers : Cameroon Step Up Preparations

The national women’s rugby XV team is training in Akono ahead of the competition that will take place in Yaounde in November.

Cameroon will host group D of the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup qualifiers that will take place in Yaounde from November 2 to 13 2022. Ahead of the competition, the national women’s Rugby XV team has intensified preparations. The first training session took place from September 21 to October 1, 2022 in Akono in the Centre Region. 
For two weeks, the players fine-tuned their skills under the supervision of the head coach Alfred Daniel Bisso. Before ending the first training session, the women XV Rugby team played a friendly match with the national U20 men’s XV team on Saturday October 1, 2022 in the campus of Collège Stoll in Akono. The encounter saw the victory of the U20 team over the national women’s team 28-18. The coach, Alfred Bisso said he is satisfied with the performance of the team but much work still needs to be done. He explained that programme was to see how the players can work together with the ball and see how they can use the ball and put the opponents in difficulty. 
The President of the Cameroon Rugby Federation Marc Emmanuel Essono said it is the first time Cameroon will host such a high-level competition.
