Enhancing Decentralised Cooperation : Investment, Dev’t Opportunities Discussed

Minister, Georges Elanga Obam exchanged with the Chairperson of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, Lord Jonathan Peter Marland on October 11, 2022.

Assets of Regional and Local Authorities of various regions have been presented to the visiting Chairperson of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, Lord Jonathan Peter Marland as a mechanism to secure investment opportunities for development. This was during a working session the Minister of Decentralisation and Local Development, Georges Elanga Obam had with the British official on October 11, 2022. 
Decentralisation Minister projected Cameroon’s model of decentralisation, noting that Councils and Regions have the duty to promote a harmonious economic development and social progress of their regions, and for this to be done, investment partners are needed. The special status of the North West and South West Regions was highlighted with emphasis on the advantages in relation to investment. Minister Elanga Obam also projected the industrial zone management of Cameroon as a competence transferred to Councils, thus opening them to investment opportunities. The Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance (FEICOM) presented its investments in Regional and Local Authorities and its project of constructing regional offices in all ten regions, thus in need of investment partners.
