Elite one : Tough Challenges Ahead

Stakeholders are expected to meet up with tasks such as payment of salaries, managing the world cup break, disbursing and ensuring effective use of subventions amongst others.

As the 2022/2023 MTN Elite One Championship takes off this Saturday October 15, 2022, stakeholders are expected to do all within their capacities to see that the competition unfolds smoothly. To achieve this, they will have to surmount certain challenges including paying of players’ salaries, disbursing promised subventions and ensuring their effective use, managing the world cup break amongst others. 
Paying the salaries of players will be one of the major elements to see that the championship remains competitive and buoyant because of motivation. This year, the Cameroon Football Federation has stated the salaries of players in the top flight championship should not be less than FCFA 200, 000. Club President’s thus have the daunting task to respect this order for the betterment of the championship.
Disbursing promised subventions and ensuring its effective usage is another challenge of the season. It should be recalled that the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) had announced that each team will receive a subsidy of 48 million FCFA for the upcoming season. The champion of Cameroon for the 2022/2023 season will also receive an envelope of FCFA 50 million for the title and another FCFA 50 million for participation in the Champions League. FECAFOOT, thus has the task to respect her engagements and ensure that the money reaches the main actors who are the players.
Another task ahead is to manage the break imposed by the World Cup. Clubs are supposed to be kept busy during this period to see that they are in top form when the championship resumes. The management of infrastructure is also a challenge. FECAFOOT is engaging the season with 22 teams in the ...
