Basic Products At End-of-Year Feasts : Government’s Provision Efforts Appreciated

House Speaker of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril made the remark as he chaired the closing plenary of the November session.


Lawmakers have expressed appreciation for efforts made by government in assuring the availability of basic products in the local market as end-of-year feasts (Christmas and New Year) approach. The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril made the remark on December 10, 2022 as he chaired the closing plenary of the November session of the House, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute. The House Speaker also urged the population to be aware of speculators in the markets. “I am equally satisfied with all measures already taken by government in that regard. I hereby salute government action through the national brigade to suppress fraud. It is hoped that the latter would work relentlessly for a steady supply of consumer goods,” he stated. Hon. Cavaye Yeguie also thanked the Head of State for the numerous gestures of assistance to people afflicted by natural disasters in the Far North Region as well as other regions of the country. 
The lawmaker in his speech also highlighted the industrialisation of Cameroon which according to him, faces two headwinds including inadequate power supply and limited resources (financial, material and human resources). “Government’s policy option of professionalising teaching has made it possible to churn out a lot of graduates at the level of higher education. Paradoxically, the shortage of graduates with basic skills is becoming acute. The question then is if we cannot revolutionise our system of vocational training,” House Speaker questioned.
