Cameroon Medical Council : New Executive Bureau Imminent

The Elective General Assembly of the Cameroon National Medical Council (CNMC) began during the early hours of yesterday, December 29, 2022 at the Yaounde Conference Centre. The Assembly has been convened by the Minister of Public Health since the mandate of the previous executive is no longer valid. At press time yesterday, the voting phase had not begun.
Sources at the Ministry of Public Health say the assembly is meeting within a special context after the previous mandate of the executive bureau ended in March 2022. In the meantime, there was an extra-ordinary general assembly which was set up to decide on the rules and regulations of the elections and the internal regulations of the Council. Within the new internal regulations, members were then meeting to elect a new bureau. 
The Election Day began with the registration of members and the validation of the mandate of each delegate who had to vote. This was carried out by the representative of each candidate vying for the post of President of the Cameroon National Medical Council. This phase was to ensure that each delegate who was participating in the election was a registered member in the Council and is up-to-date with the payment of dues. The registration phase also consisted in verifying that each delegate belongs to one of the divisions of the council; that is, the Civil Service Division, the Private Sector and the Religious Bodies. The online pre-registration process was aimed at easing the registration and the voting processes. After the verification of the registration of the mandate of delegates, the list of those eligible to participate in the general assembly was established and co-signed by representatives of the presidential candidates.
