Nchafack Almighty : Sailing In Pre-Wrapped Ekwang Business

The Founder of Just Food produces pre-wrapped and frozen ekwang ready for cooking.

The food business is one that many have ventured into with Nchafack Almighty standing out for promoting the convenient availability of a typical traditional meal known as ekwang (cocoyams wrapped in cocoyam leaves and cooked with palm oil). She is Founder of an organisation known as Just Food which sales pre-wrapped and frozen ekwang. A packet is sold for FCFA 3,000 and serves two people with healthy appetites. It is prepared under the most hygienic conditions and the consumer just needs to defrost and cook with ingredients of choice. The frozen food is sold in some supermarkets in Yaounde like Dovv and Santa Lucia, as well as other sales points in Douala, Bamenda and the United Kingdom. 
Nchafack Almighty said she was motivated to begin branding pre-wrapped and frozen ekwang to bridge the gap between professional work and house chores. “Before I moved to the United Kingdom for my Chevening scholarship, I used to work in a fast pace organisation. It was long hours of work, with almost no weekends and always taking work back home. So, there was basically no time for me to do anything, talk less of cooking and ekwang is one of my favourite meals. If I had to eat ekwang, either I had to eat it in a restaurant or I would have to wait for one of those rare weekends where I don’t have to go to the office to cook it. When I came to the United Kingdom in 2015, I discovered that there was actually pre-wrapped ekwang in shops which was wrapped and frozen, and flown from Cameroon,” she narrates. The Founder of Just Food added that pizza is another thing that inspired her which is equally time consuming to prepare but made available in shops.
