North West : FCFA 69.010 Billion Budget For 2023

The Governor of the Region Adolphe Lele Lafrique Deben officially launched the budget of the region for the 2023 financial year in a ceremony in Bamenda on January 16, 2023.

The North West Region will operate with a projected budget of FCFA 69 010 963 513 in the 2023 financial year. FCFA 15 806 015 287 will serve for the running of services, while FCFA 53 204 948 226 will be used for investment. Regional Governor Adolphe Lele Lafrique in his opening speech as he presided at the ceremony to launch the budget for the year said, the budget for the 2022 financial year was executed in the region under extreme conditions marked by the prevailing socio- political crisis and the controlled Covid-19 challenge. However, he said, “On a positive note we witnessed the accrued implementation of the decentralization process, especially with the full and active operationalization of the North West Regional Assembly and the Public Independent Conciliator.” Concerning the treasury situation, the Governor stated that the liquidity tensions were progressively eased thereby ameliorating the disruption of the smooth execution of some projects and the ordinary running of the administrative services. 
In a somehow satisfactory note, the Governor congratulated the various budgetary stakeholders of the region on the impressive 2022 budgetary execution rate citing the Public Investment Budget rate which in spite of the socio-political constraints still reached a commendable 88.05 per cent score.
