Nomination Papers for Senatorial : Election Electoral Board Begins Scrutiny Of Files

Deliberations kicked off yesterday February 1, 2023 during the second session as of right of the Board presided at by its Chairperson, Enow Abrams Egbe.

Members of the Electoral Board of Elections Cameroon have begun the examination of nomination papers submitted at the elections management body in view of participating in the March 12, 203 Senatorial election.  Deliberations kicked off yesterday February 1, 2023 during the second session as of right of the Board presided at by its Chairperson, Enow Abrams Egbe. The holding of the session is in accordance with the provisions of Section 10 (2) and 19 of the Electoral Code. A total of 13 political parties deposited candidacy files and the Board will therefore scrutinise and make a reasoned decision which will be made public least 15 days before the day of the poll in conformity with Section 231(3) of the abovementioned Code. 
In his opening statement, the Electoral Board Chair said it was essential to come together after the close of submission of candidacy files to examine and validate candidates’ nomination papers which is a key phase in the electoral process. “In the next few days following this exercise, the Electoral Board shall publish the lists of candidates accepted to take party in this important lection, as well as the list of rejected candidates. Each of us must therefore keep in mind the mission entrusted to us, that of ensuring the compliance to the electoral law by all stakeholders so as to guarantee the regularity, impartiality, objectivity, transparency and sincerity of this 2023 senatorial election,” he stated.
