Youth Football League Kicks Off

It was a feast for football lovers who stormed the Reunification Stadium Annex in Bepanda in the afternoon of Saturday, February 4, 2023. The day was made hectic and excellent as the launching of the Cameroon Youth Football League (CYFL) for the 2022-2023 football season was witnessed by former football icon Samuel Eto’o Fils, in his capacity as President of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), accompanied by Coach of the Indomitable Lions, Rigobert Song Bahanag, as well as other former footballers, Timothee Atouba, Lucien Mettomo, Sedou Alioum, among others. There was also the President of the Cameroon Youth Football League, Arthur Djampiir, and his vice, Michel Kaham. They all turned out for the launch of the Cameroon Youth Football League for the 2022-2023 football season in the Wouri Division of the Littoral Region.
Enow Ngachu, Director General of the Cameroon National Football Academy, said during the launch that the objective is to reconstruct and consolidate the fundamentals of Cameroon football in view of setting a base for the selection of players who will represent Cameroon in future international competitions. He said CYFL is the technical organ of FECAFOOT in charge of managing U17 footballers.
In the matches that followed, for the U15, Tiouth Djitta Humanitarian secured a one-nil win over Jeunesse Sport Academy at the Reunification Stadium Annex in Bepanda. Meanwhile, in the U17, Real Foot Academy of New Bell and Dauphine Academy Sport Center separated on a one-all tie. There are 800 clubs from 50 divisions of the country, making a total of more than 15,000 licensed players participating in the tournament. The tournament will be played in three stages: divisional, regional and national levels.
