Bamenda : Memorable Celebration

A huge crowd turned out at the Commercial Avenue Grandstand in Bamenda on February 11, 2923 to celebrate the 57th edition of the National Youth Day.


“I will like to congratulate the youths. Despite all the threats and difficulties they were able to mobilise themselves here in their numbers today thereby sending  a message to the whole nation that they are ready to accompany the Head of State to rebuild the North West Region.” These were the words of the Governor of the North West Region Adolphe Lele Lafrique at the Commercial Avenue Grandstand in Bamenda after he presided at the march past and other activities marking the celebration of this year’s National Youth Day.
Many people testified that since the outbreak of the security crisis rocking the North West and South West Regions, this one of the rare and historic moments the population from all strata of society beat fear, defiled threats, then came out massively to celebrate the National Youth Day.  The huge crowd that filled the Grandstand and is surroundings first of all listened to the replay of the Head of State’s message to the youths after which winners of prizes in diverse activities organised in prelude to the celebration proper received their awards. 
The most impressive and colorful part of the celebration in Bamenda the North West Regional capital was the march past. It was led by students of CENAJES Bamenda followed by  Mrs and Miss North West, members of the Cameroon National Youth Council for the North West, National Civic Service Agency for Participation in Development and ex-fighters of the Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) Centre in Bamenda.
