Promoting Bilingualism : Douala II Rewards Best Poem

The mayor of the Douala II Council Denise Fampou handed the prizes to the winners and participants on the 9 of February 2023.

The first edition of the best bilingualism poem completion of the Douala II Council has been won by Aiyeanwi Success Nche Chibikam of the Government English Primary School Camp Bertaut group I, while the second prize went to Nzeugang Djuissi Catherine Alexandra, still of Government English Primary School camp Bertaut group I and the third position went to Mengue Mengue Emmanuel Joanel of Ecole publique Camp Bertaut group II.
The best bilingualism poem competition was launched by the mayor of the Douala II council some months back to promote bilingualism within the municipality. The competition that was opened to primary school pupils of the Douala II municipality was pegged on the theme “Importance of Bilingualism”. For the first edition, 27 out of the 33 public schools in the municipality participated with some 16 English-speaking pupils and 75 French speaking pupils taking part.
While handing the prizes to the winners on February 9, 2023, the Mayor of the Douala II council Denise Fampou congratulated all who took part in the competition. She said they looked into the style, respect of the theme, rhythm, and originality. She said the winners respected the rules and went home with the prizes. ...
