North West, West Regions : Councils Rewarded For Promoting Inclusive Dev’t

Elven Councils from the two regions distinguished themselves in the areas of health, education, safeguarding and empowering people with disabilities.

The Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services in partnership with Cameroon Blind Mission and Australian Aid, on February 16, 2023 celebrated Councils and decentralised structures promoting Community-based Inclusive Development (CBID) in the North West.
The Award named Council Excellence in Inclusion Award (CEIA) is aimed at celebrating Councils and decentralised support structures that have been promoting care for people with disabilities in their municipalities. The Councils included Bamenda I, II, III, Bafut, Fundong, Jakiri, Santa, Tubah and Wum with Nkambe emerging the overall best in the North West Region and Magba in the West Region. The effort by the CBC Health Services' Socio - Economic Empowerment of persons with disabilities (SEEPD) programme with other stakeholders is gradually yielding fruits in the communities.  
The Director of the CBCHS, Prof. Tih Pius Muffih saluted the role of Councils and decentralised structures in including and promoting the mainstreaming of persons with disabilities across the country and other targeted structures as agents of development. He added that the goal is that no one in the communities should be left behind. To him the recognitions were just a way to thank the stakeholders for a   job well done and to encourage other Councils to copy the example.
The awards were designed according to the following categories, Health, Education, social, safeguarding and Empowerment.
