Corruption-free 2023 Senatorial Election : CONAC Kick Starts National Campaign

The initiative seeks at sensitising the different actors in the electoral process on the essence of integrity.

As electoral campaigns for the election of Senators are currently ongoing in the country, the National Anti-Corruption Commission, better known as CONAC, is carrying out a special sensitisation campaign to promote integrity during the process. The initiative dubbed “Corruption-free 2023 Senatorial election”, began yesterday February 27, 2023 ad will end on March 5, 2023. It is taking place across the different regions of the country. A press release from the Chairman of CONAC, Rev. Dr. Dieudonné Massi Gams states that the campaign is aimed at sensitising the different actors in the electoral process on the essence of electing Senators of integrity who are engaged in the fight against corruption. “Within the earmarked period, teams from CONAC wills scout the national territory to sensitise voters, candidates, the different political parties and other actors in the electoral process,” partly reads the release.
More specifically, the special campaign targets Regional and Municipal Councillors; the electoral college of the election. The communique also informs the public of the putting in place of a communication and intervention unit at the institution’s headquarters in Yaounde through which denunciations can be done either through their hotline 1517 or by Whatsapp on the number 658262682 between 7:30 am to 4pm.
The global objective of the sensitisation campaign, concept notes from the organisers say, is to inculcate values of integrity in the actors of the process, who will in return vote dignified Senators, who, through their mandate will champion the fight against corruption.
