52nd Human Rights Council Session : Cameroon Participates In Deliberations

Minister Felix Mbayu is leading the delegation at the get-together which started on February 27 in Geneva.


The fifty-second session of the United Nations Human Rights Council is ongoing in Geneva with more than 125 member States set to address the Council. Deliberations started on February 27, 2023. Cameroon is represented at deliberations by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu. The Minister is expected to present efforts made by the government of Cameroon in promoting and protecting human rights in various domains especially with the ongoing socio-political situation in the North West and South West Regions of the country, security challenges in the Far North Region caused by Boko Haram, influx of refugees in the East Region, amongst others. Strides in protecting the rights of children and women, prisoners, persons with disabilities, elderly and other fundamental rights in Cameroon will be presented before the Council.  
The session opened on February 27, 2023 under the presidency of Václav Bálek of the Czech Republic. At the opening, several personalities addressed the Council including the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres; the President of the General Assembly, Csaba K?rösi; the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk; and the Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Ignazio Cassis.  The Council shall during the session hold 27...
