Yaounde I Council : Women Engage In Sport Activities

This is in prelude to the International Women’s Day commemorated tomorrow worldwide.


Women of the Yaounde I Subdivision have undertaken a series of sport activities to mark events commemorating the 38th International Women’s Day in the locality. Yesterday, March 6, as early as 6: 00.a.m, they began a sports walk from the Yaounde City Council to the Yaounde one municipality. For over two-hours, the women walked, danced and exercised their muscles while carrying a banner which revealed the theme of the celebration and the different activities taking place in line with the International Women’s Day. Activities at the municipality are taking place under the patronage of the Mayor, Jean Marie Abouna.
From the Yaounde City Council passing through the Nlongkak Junction to the Bata, Mballa II and Tongolo Junction to the Council premises. The women through songs and messages told passers-by that it was good to exercise for it ensures good mental and physical health. Heading the women was the Second Assistant Mayor to the Yaounde One Council, Onambélé Bindzi Clementine. She said it was an opportunity to tell the women of the municipality that sport participates to the development of any country. According to her, sport activities improve the health of any person and reduce the risk of developing several diseases. The sport walk was also an occasion to bring women in the municipality together.
