Selma Ndi : Building Tech Empire For Girls

Her team has trained over 3 000 women in the trade who are making a decent living from it today.

Selma Ndi is a full staff web developer working in Silicon Mountain Buea. Her brand name is Data Girl Technologies and her job entails writing computer programmes, making adjustments and updates to applications. Her clients are University female students pursuing courses in Computer Science and Computer Engineering. She also have start-ups as her clients. She said they have been able to reach out to over 3000 girls in Yaounde, Limbe, Bamenda and now Buea who learned graphic, content management, system and web development. “The girls that we have trained, we have seen a lot of them take up career in tech fully,” she indicated. 
Selma Ndi holds a Master in Business Administration from ICT University in Yaounde. She gave up her accounting job to embrace tech. She said the gender gap in tech is so wide. That just about 8 % of women globally are pursuing career in software development, reasons why she is crusading for more girls into tech. Her biggest challenge has been stereotype as many women are not taken serious in the tech industry. Her goal is to get more women into tech as possible. 
She encourages diversity in tech indicating that men’s and women’s needs in building computer programmes should always be considered. As such, there will be no bias. She was inspired into tech by Rebecca Enonchong, Sophie Ngassa and Nelly Chatchue Diop.
