Buea : Free Screening Of Population On Kidney Diseases

For two days (March 9 and 10, 2023) running the population of Buea received free screening on kidney related diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes and hypertension. Throughout the two days there were 450 persons screened and 60 were discovered to have kidney related diseases. Dr. Krystel Ekiti Martin said those with cases have been referred to the Buea Regional Hospital for confirmation and follow up. All those screened were advised on how their lifestyles can affect their health. They were also counseled on the type of meals to eat and take sport serious.
The screening exercise was championed by The Iya Foundation in marking the world kidney day on theme: “Kidney health for all and preparing for the unexpected and help the vulnerable.” Four medical Doctors, 10 laboratory technicians and 30 volunteers of The Iya Foundation carried out the exercise at Check Point Molyko Buea.
