Bamenda : Anniversary Celebration In Fanfare

Merriments took place at the Congress Hall which happens to be the birth place of the party.


CPDM supporters in the North West Region on March 24, 2023 joined their counterparts nationwide in celebrations marking the 38th anniversary of the party. In Bamenda, celebrations were chaired by the CPDM Permanent Head of Delegation for the North West, Philemon Yang and attended by the top brass of the party from the region. 
The celebration which took place at the birth place of the party in the Congress Hall was marked by speeches interspersed with traditional dances and musical presentations notably the Njang dance from Kom, Mbakelem from Nkwen and the Mbolo women.
In his keynote address, Philemon Yang said “We cannot change the past but can manage the present and prepare for the future, and that the choices we make shape the future.” He therefore called on the population of the North West to choose carefully. He called on the people to stop killings, ghost towns and school boycotts saying peace is a prerequisite to meaningful development and that tampering with the territorial integrity of the country cannot be tolerated. He hailed the creation of the Special Status for the two English-speaking regions, the decentralisation process which he said was irreversible, the creation of the Regional Assembly, and the House of Chiefs, amongst others...
