Ankie Rebecca : Senate Honours Fallen Senator

The Vice President of the Senator, Chief Tabetando Ndieb-Nso, presided at a homage-paying ceremony which took place on March 31, 2023 at the House Chambers.

Lawmakers have paid their last respects to late Senator Ankie Affiong Rebecca Amah who died on March 1, 2023 after an illness. The Vice President of the Senate, Tabetando Ndieb-Nso on behalf of the Senate President, presided at the homage-paying ceremony on March 31, 2023 and was attended amongst others by the Minister Delegate to the Presidency in charge of Relations with Assemblies, Bolvine Wakata and the Governor of the Centre Region, Naseri Paul Bea. The death of Senate Ankie Rebecca brings to 12, the total number of Senators who journeyed to the world beyond during the current legislative period of the House. She was of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) and was a member of the Cultural, Social and Family Affairs Committee of the Senate. 
In his condolence statement on behalf of the Senate, Senator Tabtendo Ndieb-Nso noted that it is with such a great pain that the Senate is leaving behind one of its political family member. “She was a committed militant with so much dynamism. She was quickly noticed through her hard work and audacity where she gained the confidence of the National Chairman, who appointed her a member of the Central Committee of the party in 1996,” he stated. The Vice President said she was commonly called “Colleague Bakassi” and her commitment towards the activities of the Senate gave them the hope that she was powerfully conquering the illness and will stay longer with them0. “May your soul rest in peace in the land of our ancestors,” the Vice President wished, to someone he described as a humble and polite person.&...
