Distressed Cameroonians In Tunisia : First Batch Of Returnees Arrive Yaounde

On board a Royal Air Maroc flight, the 75 compatriots were received on April 6,2023 at the Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport by officials of the Ministry of External Relations.

On the instructions of the President of the Republic, some distressed Cameroonians in Tunisia have safely returned to Cameroon on a chartered flight made available by the State. The first batch of returnees comprising 75 compatriots safely arrived at the Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport on board a Royal Air Maroc flight on April 6, 2023 and were warmly received by officials of the Ministry of External Relations and other partner ministries such as the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Social Affairs. The returnees are part of 181 Cameroonians already identified by Cameroon’s diplomatic mission in Tunis and they are back home on the instructions of the President of the Republic in his continuous programme to ensure Cameroonians are safe whether in or out of the country. The instructions of the President of the Republic on ensuring their safe return back to Cameroon are executed by the Ministry of External Relations working with partners such as the International Organisation for Migration and the Cameroonian Red Cross (auxiliary of the government concerning humanitarian issues). 
At the airport, the returnees expressed their gratitude to President Paul Biya for guaranteeing their safe return through a chartered plane. Necessary formalities were done by the Cameroonian Police before taking them to their temporal residence which is the migrants sites at Rue CEPER in Yaounde.
