Jean Bernard Ndongo Essomba : Deceased Lawmaker Elevated Grand Cordon

The late Chief Whip of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) Parliamentary Group at the National Assembly, Hon. Jean Bernard Ndongo Essomba who died on March 17, 2023 in Yaounde, has been posthumously decorated Grand Cordon of the Cameroon Order of Merit. He was elevated to the rank on April 22, 2023 by the Secretary General of the CPDM Central Committee, Jean Nkuete, representative of the Head of State at the official funeral of the departure lawmaker. Jean Bernard Ndongo Essomba was later laid to rest in Nkol Ebae, Sa’a Subdivision, Lekié Division of the Centre Region. A mass was officiated at the event by the Bishop of Obala, His Lordship Sosthène Leopold Bayemi Matjei who used the analogy of a leaf that falls from a tree and despite the winds, ends up falling on the ground to insinuate that death is inevitable. He noted that what is important is the impact we leave behind and our relationship with God, something he said the deceased mastered so well as seen in his actions. A total of seven eulogies were read at the funeral, including the condolence message of the Head of State to the family, read by the Senior Divisional Officer of Lekié, Patrick Simo Kamsu. The condolence message addressed to the family head, Adolphe Noah Ndongo who is the Director General of the Autonomous Sinking Fund and son of the deceased, assures the family that he shares in their pain. The message celebrates the brilliant career of the late Ndongo Essomba at the National Assembly and as an established businessman. It further states that Cameroon has lost a dignified son and patriot. “As you know, I have great esteem for him,” partly reads the condolence message.
