Providing Better Drinking Water In Municipalities : CAMWATER, FEICOM Synergise

The framework agreement was signed on April 27, 2023 at the headquarters of the Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance in Yaounde.

A framework agreement to enhance better supply of drinking water in Councils of the country was on April 27, 2023 signed between the Cameroon Water Utilities Corporation (CAMWATER) and the Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance (FEICOM). The Directors General of the two structure, respectively Blaise Moussa and Philippe Camille Akoa, each signed on behalf of their institutions. The aim of the agreement is to support decentralised authorities (CTD) in the realisation of drinking water supply and in liquid sanitation. The framework agreement will enable municipalities to benefit from the technical and financial support of the two institutions, in particular the supervision of projects for the construction and management of drinking water supply systems. The agreement, concluded for a period of three years, renewable, concerns the production of network plans, installation and town planning documents relating to drinking water supply and liquid sanitation systems in CTDs, the development of programmes and projects for the construction, equipment and management of water supply systems, financing and mobilising resources at the local and international level for the implementation of such projects as well as their maintenance. 
The Director General of FEICOM, Philippe Camille Akoa, said the agreement aims to pool efforts so that the infrastructure to be provided to municipalities is of good quality. “We are a financing organisation, the technical capacities, the knowledge of the field in terms of water quality are really within the competence of CAMWATER.
