Cameroon-Egypt : Parties Hold Second Political Consultations Meeting

A two-day get together which started yesterday May 4 at the Ministry of External Relations ends today.

The second meeting of political consultations mechanisms between the Republic of Cameroon and the Arab Republic of Egypt is underway in Yaounde. Deliberations started yesterday May 4, 2023 at the Ministry of External Relations and end today May 5, 2023 and are being co-presided by the Secretary General of the Ministry of External Relations, Oumarou Chinmoun, on behalf of the Minister, and the Deputy Minister for African Affairs of Egypt, Mohammed El Bardri. The get-together reviews bilateral relations between the two countries in all sectors of cooperation and comes ten years after the maiden meeting in Cairo in 2013. 
In his preliminary statement, the Secretary General said the platform offers the opportunity for the two countries to appreciate various efforts and actions it strengthening ties. He added that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1961, both nations have always made it a point to sustain friendly relations based on fraternity, solidarity and complementarity for mutual orientation towards progress and economic emergence through a win-win partnership. “This meeting is of great importance for many reasons. On the one hand, it will enable us to carry out an objective and rational evaluation of our cooperation on the political, diplomatic and security levels, and on the other, establish a framework for the preparation of the sevent session of the Cameroon-Egypt Bilateral Cooperation Commission to be held in Egypt, without forgetting to dwell on multilateral and regional issues in view of the evolution of our continent and the world in general,” the Minister Plenipotentiary stated.
