CEMAC : Competition Council Holds Session

The 10th ordinary session in Douala to run from the 8 -13 May 2023 will examine documents to promote harmonious economic development of Member States.

Members of the CEMAC Community Competition Council are currently meeting in Douala in the 10th ordinary session. The session is also a transmission one as it will see the coming into place of new members after the last CEMAC Conference of Heads of State and Government held in Yaounde on March17, 2023. It will also see the examination and presentation of three merger projects by the Director of Trade and Competition/CEMAC Commission.
While opening the session on Monday, May 8 in Douala, the outgoing president of the CEMAC Community Competition Council, Niama Michel, said the session is important because it is characterised by the transmission of witnesses between the outgoing team and the new management.
He added that the session will also examine proposed mergers submitted to the body, the progress of sector inquiries in Member States, the follow-up report on the implementation by Member States of the recommendations of previous sessions of the CCC, in this case, relating to concentration operations carried out without prior authorisation.
