CERAC : Diplomatic Wing Donates To Orphans

Four orphanages in the town of Yaounde received gifts from the charitable association of the First Lady of Cameroon on Friday May 12, 2023.

Despite the existence of numerous charitable organisations and the immense efforts made by public authorities, many orphans still live in abject poverty across the country. Some are school drop-outs, who suffer from violence and illnesses. While others are abandoned to an unknown fate. Within this backdrop, the diplomatic wing of the charitable association of the First Lady of Cameroon, the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC), on Friday, May 12, 2023 donated gifts to some orphanages in the town of Yaounde. During the ceremony which took place at the headquarters of CERAC, Mrs Marguerite Mbella Mbella, Deputy General Coordinator of CERAC in charge of the Diplomatic Wing, represented the First Lady, Chantal Biya, Founding President of CERAC.  
While handing over the donations consisting of computers, household appliances, foodstuff, toiletries, bedding, washing machines, kitchen equipment, amongst which refrigerators, cookers, Marguerite Mbella Mbella said although orphans face many difficulties in society, the future of these children remains to be defined. As such, the diplomatic wing of CERAC called on everybody to play a role in the future of all orphans in Cameroon. “These vulnerable children have dreams. They need our comfort, our help and, above all, our love. They need us to give them confidence and hope in the future,” Marguerite Mbella Mbella insisted.
The representative of the First Lady said Mrs Chantal Biya and the Diplomatic Corps of her association have understood the plight of orphans. She noted that each member of the diplomatic section of CERAC has children in need in their country and that the values of solidarity and love, are the basis of their commitment in the development of children in Cameroon via CERAC. Through the donation ceremony, CERAC reaffirmed its commitment to assist the needy and to participate in the construction of a more humane and equitable society.
