Fostering Development in Cameroon : UNDP Outlines Priority Areas, Reaffirms Support

Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute granted an audience to the new UNDP Resident Representative to the country, Aliou Mamadou Dia on May 23, 2023.

The new Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme, Aliou Mamadou Dia has presented his plan of action to the government of Cameroon. This was during an audience the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute granted the UN official on May 23, 2023 in the course of which the former reiterated his institution’s support to government development priorities. It was the maiden audience the Head of Government was according the Resident Representative who officially began work in Cameroon on April 10, 2023 following the presentation of his lettres of introduction to the Minister of External Relations.  
Talking to reporters after the audience, the UNDP Resident Representative said his programme of action is to support the government of Cameroon to deliver its National Development Strategy (NDS30) as well as the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. He noted that Cameroon has made significant progress on some of the 17 SGDs and UNDP has the duty of supporting the government to move forward. “We also discussed some major projects that we are currently implementing on behalf of the government of Cameroon such as the recovery programme, that is, the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West Regions.
