Promoting Peace : Cameroon Journalists Reformed

In collaboration with the Limbe-based Community Initiative for Integrity (CIDI), the National Communication Council (NCC) has refreshed a cream of Journalists on conflict reporting that builds peace. Joe Chebonkeng Kalabubse who is the NCC Chair, alongside a host of peace communication experts, reminded over 60 participant-Journalists at the Limbe workshop of their primordial role in contributing to the return of peace in Cameroon.
“The Journalists can contribute enormously to peace building that is why the National Communication Council thought it necessary to organise the come together because we in Cameroon are living in a conflict situation and we want the press to understand that they are a key player in efforts to rebuild the concord dearly needed,” the NCC Chair expressed.
The gathering that brought together over 60 senior Journalists from the Centre, North West, and South West Regions of Cameroon was held in Limbe on May, 25, 2023 to brainstorm and come out with clear-cut resolutions on what the press can effectively do as contribution to bringing back peace in Cameroon through their reporting.
The CIDI’s CEO and retired Journalist Victor Epie Ngome explained that “We want the Journalists to be able to tell their stories in such a way that they can be able to contribute to the resolution of the ongoing crisis in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon as well as any other conflicts across the country”.
