Media Awards : Promoting Meritocracy

Organisers of the Victoria International Media Merit Award were in Douala on May 24th to throw light on the event which will take place on August 12, 2023

Members of the Cameroon Association of Media Professionals (CAMP), the main organiser of the Victoria International Media Merit Award (VIIMMA) were in Douala on May 24 for a press conference to throw light on the event. VIIMMA 2023 will take place 12 August 2023 in Limbe and will be in its 6th edition. The award is out to promote personalities within the media landscape and otherwise who have excelled in the execution of their duties. This year’s edition will be held in memory of Anye Nde Nso, a journalist who was recently shot and killed in Bamenda. According to the Executive Director of CAMP, Taryang Tabe Enowbikah, the death of Anye Nde Nso was a blow to the media corps and few weeks to the launch of VIIMMA 2023. As such, they want to use this edition to pay homage to the rising journalist who was a frontline player in the profession. He said this year’s edition of VIIMMA will look at the activities of international and human rights organisations, peace and diplomatic missions. He said unlike the other years, the categories have moved from 30 to 35 in 2023 which will include 15 for individuals and organisations, 20 for journalists who excel in different categories, and five honorary awards.
