Fight Against Hate Speech : Women Associations Preach National Unity

Peace prayers were also offered during the get-together in Yaounde on June 1, 2023 organised by the National Coordinator of More Women in Politics, Prof. Justine Diffo.
Women, traditional rulers and representatives of civil society organisations from across the ten regions of the country, meeting in Yaounde denounced all forms of hate language and tribalism, something they note that poses a threat to national peace and unity. The gathering was organised by the National Coordinator of the network, More Women in Politics, Prof. Justine Diffo, in collaboration with the Ministries of Women’s Empowerment and the Family, and Youth Affairs and Civic Education, following the rise in hate speech especially on social media platforms and amongst the youths. Peace prayers were also offered during the meeting, patriotic songs chanted and the national flag brandished with peace plants. The sole objective was condemning hate speech and tribalism in all forms, as they promised to ever remain united for peace and development.
Coordinating the activities, Prof. Justine Diffo noted that together with 30 civil society organisations, traditional rulers and the Chantal Biya Foundation, they are out with a message of peace, unity and the consolidation of values of Cameroon. The main message the gathering is passing across, she stated, is that Cameroon is one and indivisible. She exhorted the women and youths to always be glaring examples against these vices, and should also use the social media to inform, not destroy. “There are people who use the social media wrongly.
