U23 AFCON Preps : Lions Intensify Training

Some 30 players drawn from football clubs in the country are training at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo near Yaounde since May 26, 2023.

The U23 Lions of Cameroon have intensified preparations ahead of the TotlaEnergies Africa Cup of Nations that will take place in Morocco from June 24 to July 8, 2023. At the moment, some 30 players drawn from football clubs in the country are training at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo near Yaounde since May 26, 2023. For close to two weeks, the players are fine-tuning their skills under the supervision of the head coach, Guy Feutchine. Training takes place twice daily at the Mbankomo centre in order to ensure the best result in Morocco. As part of their training session, the U23 Lions played a friendly match against AS Fortuna on Thursday June 29, 2023. 
During the friendly encounters the U-23 Lions team beat AS Fortuna 5-0. Goals were scored by Djonkep (Eding Sport de la Lekie), Ivan Cabrel Djantou (02) of Les Astres de Douala, Alex Diboto (Bamboutos of Mbouda), and the fifth goal by Benato Claude Bernard Bekima (Apejes de Mfou).  The boys of Coach Guy Feutchine are expected to play two more friendly matches this week. Sources close to the team say the training camp that started on May 26, 2023 will run till June 9, 2023 where the players will travel to Morocco. At the end of the training Guy Feutchine is expected to select the list of 26 players who will defend the colours of the country in Morocco.
