Boxing : AFBC Elite Championships Postponed

The announcement was made public recently in a letter signed by the President of the African Boxing Federation.

The AFBC Elite Mena and Women Boxing Championships have been letter postponed to a later date. The announcement was made public on Friday June 9, 2023 in a signed by the President of the African Boxing Federation, Betrand Magloire Mendouga
In the statement, Betrand Magloire Mendouga said at the end of an urgent meeting convened at the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education following the decision of the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee recommending to its General Assembly to withdraw the International Boxing Association (IBA) from the Olympic movement, the Minister of Sports and Physical Education decided to postpone the organisation of the AFBC Elite Men and Women Boxing Championships scheduled from June 13 to 26, 2023 in Yaounde, Cameroon, to a later date. The statement further said, the AFBC Board of Directors will meet in the next few days to confirm the new date of the competition, which has been maintained in Cameroon by the Extraordinary IBA Board of Directors. 
This notwithstanding, preparations are going on in the country ahead of the competition. While waiting for the new date to be announced, some 26 boxers (20 men and six women) had been undergoing an internal training session for the past one week in Yaounde ahead of the competition.
