School Complex of Unity Palace : Holiday Time At “Les Coccinelles”

The First Lady, Chantal Biya, matron of the school presided at a colourful ceremony to end the 2022-2023 academic year yesterday June 15, 2023 in Yaounde.

The 2022-2023 academic year was a complete success at “Les CoccinellesNursery and Primary School Complex situated within the precincts of the Presidency of the Republic. The 80 pupils of the institution did very well in their end-of-year examinations. The success rate for almost all the classes was 100 per cent with an average pass grade of at least 13 on 20. The pupils scored 86.67 per 
cent at the 2023 Common Entrance examination into secondary schools. Yesterday, June 15, 2023 the pupils through rhythms, dance, songs and sketches revealed to the First Lady, Chantal Biya, the education authorities and parents what they were capable of doing as far as learning was concerned. It was also a day to present the school balance sheet to the educational community. This was during a ceremony organised within the school premises to mark the end of the 2022-2023 academic year. The ceremony was presided at by First Lady, Mrs Chantal Biya, who doubles as founder and matron of the institution. With the excellent academic performance of the pupils, they each received a special gift from the First Lady, whom they fondly called “Mama.” 
After the singing of the National Anthem and a special welcome song from the pupils, the Head Teacher of the School Complex, Guillaume Mpouenanga in a speech acknowledged the unconditional support of the First Lady, Chantal Biya, in the daily running of the school. Guillaume Mpouenanga noted “the smooth functioning of the school and the brilliant performances of the pupils could not have been possible without the constant support from the UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador for Education and Social Inclusion, Chantal Biya.” He expressed the gratitude of the staff and pupils, and promised to maintain the brilliant results recorded so far. The Head Teacher expressed optimism that the results of the end-of-course examination, that is the First School Leaving Certificate will be 100 per cent just like in the other years. According to Mr Mpouenanga, the event comes after three weeks of intellectual work by the pupils during the third term. He added that the event marks the departure of some pupils for the long vacation and the entry of some into the secondary level of education. To such pupils, the ceremony was some kind of graduation from the school. The school is commemorating its 23rd anniversary. 
For over three-hours, the pupils thrilled their audience in a series of highly-acclaimed songs, ballets, rhymes, and sketches performed in both official languages (English and French). Through a song, they wished happy father’s day to all fath...
