Consolidating Social Cohesion : Côte d'Ivoire Learns Cameroon's Model

The President of the Bilingualism and Multiculturalism Commission had a working session with a visiting delegation of the country’s senior defence course on June 15, 2023.

Mechanisms put in place by the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism to promote peace, living together and enhance diversity have been presented to a visiting delegation from the “4ème cours d'études supérieures de défense of Côte d'Ivoire” in Cameroon on a working visit to learn best practices on safeguarding national unity. Led by Major-Colonel Brou Kouame Raoul, the delegation of 40 officers comprising nationals from Niger, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Guinea and Congo. They were received in audience by the Chairperson of the Commission, Peter Mafany Musonge on June 15, 2023 with whom they had a working session. Both parties exchanged information on the fight against multifaceted issues that threaten national unity.  
In his welcome statement, the Statesman saluted the brotherly relations that exit between Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire, two countries who are lovers of football. Peter Mafany Musonge noted that the Commission is doing everything to meet up with their mission of promoting bilingualism and social cohesion. 
A three-point presentation by the Secretary General of the Commission, Dr. Chi Asafor highlighted on the events that led to the creation of the Commission, its missions, and contribution to promoting peace and social cohesion in Cameroon.
