Livestock Development Project : Implementation Rate Presented To Lawmakers

Minister Paul Tasong gave details on the project as he responded to a question from Hon. Joshua Osih at the National Assembly on June 16, 2023.

“To date, the physical execution rate of the Livestock Development Project (PRODEL) is 99.7 per cent,” stated the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Paul Tasong on June 16, 2023 as he responded to Hon. Joshua Osih who questioned why government is not seeing the necessity to prolong PRODEL project as a means to increase financing in the animal production sector. The lawmaker also expressed a worry as to why the project would have been terminated prematurely in 2022 instead of September 2023. 
Minister Paul Tasong said the project whose technical supervisory body is the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries aims to improve the productivity of targeted production systems, market their products for the selected beneficiaries and provide effective response in the event of an eligible crisis on the livestock sub-sector is jointly funded by the State of Cameroon and the World Bank. A loan agreement for FCFA 58.100 billion that runs from June 2017 to January 2023 was signed. Having presented the three main components to the implementation, the Minister said the 99.7 per cent completion rate reflects both the effective implantation of activities and the near-total consumption of the allocated funds. “As a result, an extension of its closing date is not necessary.
