Wheel Chair Basketball Tour : Young Stars Emerges Champions

The sixth edition of the Youth Wheel Chair Basketball Tour took place in Yaounde on Sunday June 25, 2023.

The playground of the Cardi nal Paul Emile Leger for the Rehabilitation of personswith disabilities in Yaounde was the venue of the final of the sixth edition of the Youth Wheel Chair Basketball Tour. Organised by the “Association des jeunes handicapés pour l’avenir” (AJHA), the competition brought together four teams from Yaounde. The competition which has become a tradition especially during the holiday period was an opportunity for inhabitants of Yaounde and elsewhere to discover new techniques in the sport and for other aspiring athletes to develop interest in the wheelchair basketball. It was equally an opportunity to detect young talents. The competition unfolded in the mixed categories. In the final match Young Stars Wheelchair Basketball Club beat FAP of Yaounde 45-42 in a rather tough encounter. It was a thrilling encounter that kept spectators on their feet shouting at the top of their voices and cheering the teams. Young Stars began by dominating the game right from the kick off with swift and accurate passes from shooters like Philippe Touongeo, Irène Nkwa and Lekezo Cedric, among others. Their good play stay paid off as Young Stars won the first quarter (13-6). FAP however fought back with more tactical players like Kamgue Issidor, Amougui Emmanuel and Enoah Pierre among others. FAP won the quarter (12-11) but were overtaken by Young Stars (13-12). FAP however won the fourth quarter (10-8). In all Young Stars carried the day beating FAP 45-42 baskets.
